The open secret of the Gallardo and the R8 V10 is that underneath the badges they share an engine family — which means the R8's larger owner base effectively subsidizes parts availability for Gallardo owners. Same bearings, same filters, and in several cases the same brake pads. Here's what we stock for both.
Engine internals — bearings for the V10
The 5.0 and 5.2 V10s are stout, but any engine that revs to 8,500 rpm deserves fresh bearings during a rebuild or a big-power build:
- King coated performance rod bearing set (AMS Alpha spec) — the spec AMS runs in their four-figure-horsepower Alpha builds.
- King coated rod bearing set — STDX — extra-clearance standard size for street rebuilds.
- King coated performance main bearing set — STDX — mains to match.
- GSC manganese-bronze intake valve guides (set of 20) — for head work while the engine's apart.
Filters — the easy service
- BMC cylindrical air filter full kit for the 2013+ R8 5.2 V10 (S-Tronic) — washable, high-flow replacements from the F1-supplier brand; sold as the full kit the twin-airbox V10 needs.
- BMC panel air filter full kit for the 03–05 Gallardo 5.0 V10 — the first-gen Gallardo option, same washable construction.
- Prefer to stay factory? We also keep OEM air filters in stock at the Miami shop — call us and we'll match the correct element to your exact car.
Brakes — iron-disc cars
- EBC Redstuff rear pads — 08–17 R8 / 04–14 Gallardo — low-dust ceramic street compound; the daily-driver choice.
- EBC Yellowstuff rear pads — 08–17 R8 — more bite for spirited driving.
- Hawk HPS 5.0 front pads — 08–11 R8 — high-performance street compound for the front axle.
Carbon-ceramic cars: these pads are for iron-disc setups only. CCM brakes take dedicated pads — ask us first.
Symptoms/specs quick reference
- Gallardo 5.0 (03–08) and 5.2 LP560 (08–14) / R8 V8 4.2 & V10 5.2 — shared architecture, shared consumables
- E-gear/R-tronic cars: budget for clutch wear; manual gated cars hold value best
- Rebuild trigger points: oil analysis showing bearing material, low oil pressure warm, or any bottom-end noise
- Bearing sets sold per engine — confirm size (STD vs STDX vs oversize) against your crank measurements
FAQ
Are Gallardo parts really this available?
The shared-platform parts are. Body panels and interior trim are another story — but consumables that overlap with the R8 are affordable and stocked.
Which bearing size do I need?
That's a measurement question, not a catalog question. STDX gives extra clearance on a standard-size crank; oversizes are for machined cranks. Your engine builder's plastigauge readings decide.
Redstuff or Yellowstuff?
Redstuff for clean wheels and quiet street manners. Yellowstuff if you drive it like Lamborghini intended and can live with more dust.
Do these V10s need special oil attention?
They hold a lot of oil and like it fresh — with dry-sump Gallardos especially, follow the level-check procedure exactly before assuming anything.

Verify fitment to your exact chassis, engine and brake configuration (iron vs carbon-ceramic) before purchase. Bearing selection is safety-critical to the engine — measure, don't guess.
