Connecting rods are the component that decides how much power an otherwise healthy engine can survive. This section carries forged rods, wrist pins and rod bushings for four, five, six, eight and ten-cylinder European engines, plus diesel applications.
Most factory rods in this niche are powdered-metal and cracked-cap — fine at stock output, and the first thing to let go once boost or RPM climbs. An aftermarket forged rod in 4340 steel with a full floating pin and an ARP2000 or higher bolt raises that ceiling considerably. Two details are worth checking before you order: rod length and pin diameter must match the pistons you are running, and beam design matters — an I-beam is lighter and suits a high-RPM naturally aspirated build, while an H-beam carries more compressive load and suits high boost.
Rod bolts are the actual failure point on most rods, so treat them as a wear item and torque to stretch rather than to a value. See ARP rod bolts and fastener kits. Complete the assembly with forged pistons and bearings and crankshafts.
