Engine gaskets and seals are the parts that decide whether a rebuild holds. Two things matter when you order. First, thickness on a head gasket set changes compression ratio: on a built engine a thicker multi-layer steel gasket drops compression to make room for boost, so match the gasket to the build rather than to the engine code alone. Second, seals are best replaced as a group — if the front main seal is leaking, the cam seals sitting behind the same cover are exactly the same age and the labour is already paid for.
