The Bilstein B8 Performance Plus front strut assembly (part 22-218278) is a direct-fit performance strut for the R172-generation Mercedes-Benz SLK and SLC roadsters without the Dynamic Handling adaptive suspension. It is a shortened-body damper engineered to pair with lowering springs. Two are required per vehicle.

Verified fitment: 2012-2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK250, 2016 SLK300, 2012-2016 SLK350, 2017-2020 SLC300 (including the 2020 Final Edition) and 2017-2020 SLC43 AMG. Bilstein also lists the 2012-2016 SLK55 AMG for this part number.

On a compact roadster like the SLK/SLC, a lowered stance without matched dampers quickly turns into a bouncy, uncontrolled ride. The B8's application-specific valving and correct travel range are what let the car sit low and still feel planted on a fast back road. Limited lifetime warranty.
